Another homework - Contextualising interjections and onomatopoeic words

A day in the life of Miss Pepper

“Zzzzzzzzzzzz” …The teacher was sleeping.

At 7 o’clock, her alarm clock rang, and she woke up. The first thought that came to her head was: “Thank goodness it is Wednesday…Today I’m having classes with my favourite classgroup: 11ºA! I’m really looking forward to it…Baaah!”
She got dressed and had breakfast. As she was walking outside her house, Brrrrr…it was really cold. She went back to her closet, in order to pick up a warmer jacket. Then she called a taxi and went to school. When Miss Pepper arrived at "Alex. Herc." school, 11ºA was waiting for her. Muahh, she kissed Filipa, her favourite student in the class. As she was greeting all the other students, Grrrrr…it was Rita – the student Miss Pepper liked annoying the most.
They all went to the classroom. As the teacher was writing down the missing students, Yuupeeee…she realised number 14 was missing, but five minutes later, someone knocked at the door…”Halleluiah, Daniel has arrived; He is late again!” But she was wrong. Simão opened the door and…”Dear me! I thought you wouldn’t be coming today, João Pedro!”
The class went as normal, and when the school bell rang…"Impossible! I thought we were just at the beginning! The class was so interesting that time run too fast!”
Miss Pepper had two more classes during that morning, but far less interesting than the first one.
At lunch time, the teacher went to a near restaurant. She ordered what she wanted to have and…”Yuck! This food is horrible! I won’t eat it” - she said.
During the afternoon, she posted some assignments in the classes’ blogs and then it was dinner time. As lunch had been miserable, she cooked herself her favourite dish. She set the table and…”Yummy! It is really delicious!” she said.
After dinner, she turned on the television and commented: “Hurray, Boavista is winning!”, but when the match finished, Boavista had lost. She went to bed in a bad mood because of the football match, and by the time her head hit her pillow, she felt asleep…Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

This is a very funny day my best student imagined I could have!

Rita made up her mind about saying who she is and what her likes are

"Hi there*
My name is Rita, I’m 16 and I live in Porto.
I’m a very motivated, amusing and strong-minded girl!
In the future I’m not sure of what I want to be, but perhaps something to do with animals. I can’t see an animal misplaced or injured – I always get sad and worried.
I’ve been practising karate since I was 5 and I’m part of the karate national team. But, my true passion is horse riding! I’ve been practising it for 4 years and I want to keep practising it for a long time! I really... really... really love horses**
In my free time I like listening to music, practising lots of different sports and spending precious moments with my friends!
So…this is me!!!

Aren’t they fantastic animals??
=D "

Thinking ... in the English classes as preparation of a HOMEWORK!

Three minutes in students' heads during an English lesson.
Pedro did this:

**Thinking**

"On the 11th Ocotber, our English teacher told us to think. Hearing that we asked 'about what?' and she answered 'just think!' So we were there three minutes thinking.
During that time I thought of basketball, the weather, my lunch and I also thought of the new game that is coming for Playstation 2, Pro Evolution Soccer 6.
But I thought of all of this in 1 minute. It was surprising. In the 2 minutes left, I looked outside, I laughed a little bit and I looked at my partner. I did everything except thinking. These two minutes seemed to be much more than what they really were.
So this exercise made me think that time passes faster when we are doing something. "

Ana Luísa came to these conclusions:

**To think, thought, though **

"Well... when you said 'start thinking', the first thing I thought of was the aim of these 3 minutes of thoughts.
As I had 3 minutes to think about anything, I decided to try to imagine what my classmates could be thinking about. I looked at you and I thought : 'Hmmmm ... She is thinking we are all crazy but I think she is crazier than us all together.!' And looking at you I remembered that lesson where we had to write about nothing and I had an idea. I was going to think about nothing! However after some seconds I thought that thinking about nothing would be boring and I decided to think about something. But... I didn't know what to think about! ... Family? No! I think about them all the time ... Friends? No! They are almost all here!...
That's it! I'll think about ... ... 'Time is over!' you said."

Nuno "Sopinhas" wrote:

**3 Minutes**

"It was 3 minutes thinking about what to think.
Did we lose 3 minutes in our life in such a stupid way? Maybe not because we were in the English class (and in the English class everything is possible.).
What I can remember of this moment is that I found myself thinking about what the other students could be thinking but I didn't manage to get to any thoughts. Maybe that was a good moment to sleep but it was only three minutes so what for was the teacher thinking to give us this mental exercise to go through? Possibly for nothing. ... Maybe the English teacher just wanted to have us to be thinking, something we are not used to doing in the English classes ..."

Nuno Matos imagined this:

"During the three minutes the teacher gave us to be thinking, I could think of four things: school tests, computer games, football and lunch time.
Computer games and football are probably my favourite interests, I like playing both and I also like to know a lot about them, especially about football.
I also thought about lunch because that English class which had started at 12:00 would be finished by 1:25 and ... I was starving!
I wish my teacher could give us a little more time to think, just like 90 minutes. Then I could think of more things but this time was very good although it was very short."

Giving Rita some attention ... ;) It's her Autumn start!

The first day of autumn

Katy woke up knowing that this was going to be a special day – the 21st of September, when Autumn begins!
She went running to the garden…
Silence.
It was beautiful! Katy stayed there… just looking. All those leaves with fantastic colours falling down from the trees, covering the ground. Each leaf looked so perfect that it seemed to have a life of its own, with a story to tell.
The weather was perfect – not too hot, not too cold. A nice smell came to her – roasted chestnuts!
Katy didn’t think twice before lying down onto that carpet of beautiful leaves. She stayed there for long minutes looking at the sky, thinking… it was the part or the year when magic happened, when everyone is happy, when everything looks perfect!
It was autumn!

Quim felt like posting about the 11th September

Hi, everyone.
My name is Joaquim, I´m 16 and I live in Oporto.
I´m an ambitious boy, who works hard at school to have the best grades I can.
I´m not sure of what I’d like to be in the future, but perhaps a genetic engineer or I would like to do medicine.
I’ve been practising swimming for 8 years now and I’m an athlete of the FCP competition team.
In my free times I like going to the movies, listening to music and playing computer or board games.
And I’m proud to be one of The Pepperones!!!!!
Here is my contribution to our blog:

11th September 2001

I know this post is late but I feel like posting about it even some time after.

Last weekend I went to the cinema to see the latest movie “World Trade Center” with Nicholas Cage, and that movie made me think about the 11th September and the suffering of the victims and also of the families who lost someone…
So for those people I will post the picture underneath dedicated to the victims of September 11, 2001 tragedy.
We shall never forget that day and the people

SOME NUMBERS OF VICTIMS

Lawyers (For any reference to attorneys or lawyers.) - 8

The English teacher's space - Advice nr. 2

Put a smile on your face when you're required to talk in the English classes.
Why fear a foreign language when it really means an open door to experiences of many kinds ?

Two "Autumn/Fall" creative texts

SeAson between Summer and Winter
It is Usually cold and raining
Trees have no flowers
ChestnUts are traditional
SepteMber is the month when Autumn starts
WiNd doesn't miss this time
/
Hot Food becomes more usual
People Are melancholic and sad
YeLlow, red, orange and brown are the colours
Leaves fall.
Aline

In the end of Summertime
There will be changes to the weather
The Autumn will come
I hope this season will make us feel better

There will be leaves falling
And the clouds may cry
To make the plants grow
Into an infinite sky

We will need protection
From the cold we may feel
Putting on warmer clohtes
Will make that cold unreal

We must try to enjoy every day
Like it was the last
Because time goes on so quickly
That Autumn is almost past
